Walking tacos are a fun and customizable meal perfect for parties or a quick dinner. They are made by adding taco fillings directly into individual-sized bags of corn chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (1 ounce) packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 head lettuce, shredded
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) bag corn chips (such as Fritos), individual-sized bags

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced and the meat is well coated.
  3. Assemble the walking tacos: Open individual bags of corn chips. Gently crush the chips a bit to make room for fillings.
  4. Add a spoonful of the seasoned ground beef to each bag.
  5. Top with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, salsa, and sour cream.
  6. Serve with a fork and enjoy directly from the bag.

Notes

  • You can customize the toppings with your favorite taco ingredients like black beans, corn, onions, or jalapeños.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with seasoned black beans or a plant-based ground meat alternative.
  • This recipe is easily scalable for larger crowds.
