This recipe makes a delicious and moist turkey meatloaf. It’s a great comfort food option and can be adapted to your taste preferences.

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (for topping, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for topping, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  4. If using, in a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the topping. Spread this mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can add other vegetables like grated carrots or bell peppers to the mixture for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Feel free to experiment with different seasonings like smoked paprika or chili powder.
  • Leftover meatloaf makes great sandwiches.
