A rich and creamy homemade cream of mushroom soup that’s perfect for cooking or serving as a comforting dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add mushrooms and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir until well combined.
  4. Slowly pour in broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. Add milk, cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  6. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and use immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use any variety of mushrooms you prefer.
  • For a thicker consistency, add more flour in small amounts.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze in portions for later use.
