Simple and flavorful turkey meatballs simmered in a rich tomato sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. You may need to do this in batches.
  4. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer.
  6. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite pasta or a side of crusty bread.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a finely diced onion or bell pepper to the meatball mixture.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let it simmer uncovered for a longer period.
  • Leftover meatballs and sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
