These simple beef tacos are a weeknight favorite. Seasoned ground beef is served in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 corn or flour tortillas
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, guacamole

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Warm the tortillas according to package directions (microwave, oven, or skillet).
  5. Serve the seasoned beef in the warm tortillas with your desired toppings.

Notes

  • For a spicier taco, add a pinch of cayenne pepper with the taco seasoning.
  • Leftover beef can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Try making your own taco seasoning for a customizable flavor.
