This classic meatloaf recipe combines ground meat with savory seasonings and a tangy glaze for a comforting and delicious meal. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for a family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a 9×5 inch loaf pan or on a baking sheet.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar for the glaze.
  5. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a moister meatloaf, you can add 1/4 cup of grated carrot or zucchini to the mixture.
  • If you don’t have breadcrumbs, you can use crushed crackers or rolled oats.
  • Leftover meatloaf makes great sandwiches.
