Chinese Beef and Broccoli (One Pan Take-Out)

A quick and easy one-pan version of the classic Chinese takeout dish with tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain.
  2. Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over high heat. Cook the beef for 2 minutes, then remove.
  4. Add remaining oil, then stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
  5. Add broccoli and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Return beef to the pan and pour in the sauce.
  7. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  8. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving.

Notes

  • Slice beef when partially frozen for easier cutting.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Substitute chicken or tofu for beef if preferred.
