- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, mixing well.
- Pour half the batter into the pan.
- Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts over the batter.
- Pour remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Substitute nuts with oats if preferred.
- Serve warm with coffee.
