A delicious and easy-to-make coffee cake perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. Alternately add flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  5. Pour half the batter into the pan.
  6. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts over the batter.
  7. Pour remaining batter on top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • Substitute nuts with oats if preferred.
  • Serve warm with coffee.
